About AQM Copper Inc.
AQM Copper Inc. (formerly Apoquindo Minerals) is a well financed junior Canadian mining company focused on the rapid expansion and development of the Zafranal Project in Southern Peru. Located in the resource rich district of the Southern Peru Porphyry Copper Belt, Zafranal is ideally situated amongst the world's largest operating copper mines.
As the operator of a 50/50 Joint Venture with Teck Resources on the 25,000 hectare Zafranal project, AQM Copper is aggressively advancing a 40,000m Drill Program, with the goal of delineating an NI 43-101 compliant resource by Q3 2010, and a scoping study by the end of 2010. Drilling to date suggests mineralization at Zafranal has the potential to become a significant copper gold porphyry deposit with mineralization identified over a 2800m strike length, up to 600m wide, 30-150m thick and open in multiple directions. Assays for the Company's 2010 drilling can be viewed here. The company has also initiated exploratory drilling on two of Zafranal's five satellite targets.
AQM Copper is also a JV partner with Minera S.A. in a near surface, leachable copper oxide project located near Antofagasta in Northern Chile. Minera vested 60% of the project after spending $16M in a work program that included exploration and infill drilling, metallurgical testing, amongst other pre-feasibility activities. An updated resource calculation and a definitive pre-feasibility report is expected in the fourth quarter of 2010.
Management maintains extensive experience working for the world's largest copper and gold producers in South America. Bruce Turner (formerly President of BHP Billiton's Minera Escondida) played a significant role over 19 years in the development and management of Escondida, which became the world's largest copper producing mine. Juan Villarzu was the Chairman of Codelco, the world's largest copper company for nine years. Management's combined 280 years of wide-ranging experience enables them to successfully manage every stage of a project.
